太田市は群馬県東南部に位置し、利根川、渡良瀬川の２つの河川が流れる肥沃な土地です。太田市の歴史は古く、東日本で最も古代文化が栄えた地域とされ、中世には新田荘や徳川発祥の地として文化が形成されました。近代には、飛行機王中島知久平により航空機産業が興り、現在では自動車産業を中心とした工業都市であるとともに、商業や農業の出荷額なども県内トップクラスで、調和のある都市となっています。

The city of Ota is located in the south-eastern part of Gunma prefecture and it is a fertile land with Tone River and Watarase River. Ota city is well known as most prospering place in ancient culture with old history in East Japan. In the middle age, culture was formed as origin of Nitta family and Tokugawa family. In modern times, aircraft industry was created and developed by King of Aircraft, Chikuhei Nakajima, and now, Ota is balanced industrial city which is mainly car industry, and also major city in amount of shipment for commerce and agriculture in Gunma.

◆おおた芝桜・ポピーまつり　Ota Moss Phlox and Poppy Festival

　春から初夏にかけての太田市北部運動公園は、芝桜、ポピー、ツツジが見頃を迎えます。
　１９ヘクタールの公園の丘陵地に広がる見渡す限りの芝桜とポピーが色とりどりに植栽されています。
　また、中央広場の法面には７種類のツツジ約３万２千本が植栽されています。
　由緒ある歴史と豊かな自然の中に咲き誇る花々に出会いにきませんか。

From spring to beginning of summer, it is the best season for moss phlox and poppy at Ota Northern Park. Total park is 19 hectares, and as far as you can see, colorful phlox subulatas and poppy are planted which is not to be missed. In addition, 32,000 of 7 kinds of azalea are planted in Central Square. Why don't you experience the flowers amid the rich nature and distinguished history?

◆太田市民さつき祭　Ota Citizen Satsuki Azalea Festival

　初夏の太田をさつきの花で彩る華やかなイベントで、昭和４９年から続いています。毎年、市内の愛好家や関係団体の会員が丹精込めて育てたさつきの作品、約１８０鉢の逸品が勢ぞろいします。銘木、銘花、盆養銘木など１０種目で審査が行われます。

This event has been held from 1974, and every year in beginning of summer, Ota city becomes full of Satsuki Azalea. More than 180 pots will be displayed which were grown by the fun or other related associations lovingly. 10 different kinds of works will be judged. (Noble wood, noble flower, and more)

◆尾島ねぷたまつり 　Ojima Neputa Festival

　会場は、国道３５４号の一丁目交差点から亀岡神社手前の区間です。この区間を通行止めにして、ねぷたを運行します。津軽藩の飛び地が大舘を中心とした地域にあったことが縁で始まり、現在の形に定着しました。勇壮なねぷたの運行と迫力あるねぷた囃子は必見で、太鼓の直径が１０尺ある大太鼓や、５連の太鼓を出す団体もあり、今年もねぷた太鼓に注目です。

It will be located between 1-chome intersection of route 354 and Kameoka Shrine, and it will be closed for the festival. Since Odate was the central area of Tsugaru clan's enclave, this event was started and established. The brave Neputa parade and their powerful performance with drum and other instruments have to be seen. 11.93 inch size of large drum and also some group plays drum such as 5 drums is connected as one. Check the festival out this year!

◆やぶ塚かかし祭り　Yabuzuka Kakashi Festival

　秋の風物詩として定着したかかし祭りは、その年の世相を映したかかし、可愛いアニメキャラクターかかし、カラスも逃げ出す本格かかしなど、アイデアを凝らした作品が数多くならび、来場者の目を楽しませています。

This Scarecrow festival is seasonal tradition, and many unique scarecrows will be shown and makes us enjoy. Some of them express this year's social conditions, animation characters, and original one as well.

◆大学ＪＡＺＺフェスティバル　 University Jazz Festival

　大学ジャズ界で活躍する一流校が２日間にわたり、演奏で競い合います。師走の太田の風物詩としてすっかり定着しています。審査員は市民から公募しています。

Some of the first class schools in University Jazz world will compete for 2 days. It is well known as December's seasonal tradition in Ota. Judge is assembled from public.

◆新春上州太田七福神めぐり
　 New Spring Joshu Ota Seven gods of good fortune (Shichifukujin) Meguri

　開運、招福を祈りながら、歩いて参拝します。長念寺（恵比寿）、受楽寺（大黒天）、大光院（弁財天）、金龍寺（毘沙門天）、玉巌寺（福禄寿）、永福寺（寿老人）、曹源寺さざえ堂（布袋尊）の全行程で約１１km、徒歩で約３時間です。

We walk and visit temples with hoping lucky charm. The length is about 11km and takes 3 hours. The order of seven gods of good fortune is Chonen Temple (Ebisu), Juraku Temple (Daikokuten) Daikou House (Benzaiten), Kinryu Temple (Bishamonten), Gyokugan Temple (Fukuroju), Eifuku Temple (jurojin), and Sogen Temple (Hoteison).
