吉岡町は県のほぼ中央に位置し、榛名山の南東の山麓と利根川地域に展開しており、面積20.50k㎡の都市近郊農村です。吉岡バイパスや上毛大橋の開通により、県央はもちろん、利根川の東岸、幹線道路へのアクセスがよくなりました。新たな市街地や住宅地の造成が多くなり、住み良い町として注目を浴びています。

Situated right in the central part of Gunma, Yoshioka Town is a suburban farming village of approximately 20,000 people living in the area of 20.50 square kilometers at the foot of Mt. Haruna on the south-eastern side and along the Tone River. Opening of Yoshioka Bypass road and Jomo O-hashi Bridge gave the town excellent access to the center of Gunma and to major rapid transit system, creating new town and housing projects. As a result, Yoshioka has been attracting the eyes of many who are looking for a nice place to live in Gunma. Introduction of the town's places of historic interest, scenic beauty, local specialty, and other facilities and parks are listed below by season.

　山の自然と川の恵みに包まれた吉岡町。利根川沿いからは榛名山・谷川岳・赤城山がパノラマで一望できます。サイクリングコースでは、しだれ桜並木が楽しめます。また、隣接している緑地運動公園で運動し、さわやかな汗を流した後で、温泉施設リバートピア吉岡で心身ともにリラックスしてはいかがでしょうか。

March, April, and May are the three of the best months of Yoshioka Town. Along the Tone River, you have a panoramic view of the three most famous mountains of Gunma: Mt. Haruna, Mt. Akagi, and Mt. Tanigawa. There is a cycling road, along which cherry trees with overhanging branches are planted that offer a magnificent view. You can enjoy tennis and ground golf in the adjacent Greenbelt Sports Park and then go to Rivertopia Yoshioka to wash up in onsen and eat at restaurants there.

◆緑地運動公園 　Greenbelt Sports Park

　ケイマンゴルフ場（９ホール）・パークゴルフ場（２７ホール）・グランドゴルフ場（１６ホール）・多目的広場が整備され、老若男女を問わず手軽にスポーツが楽しめます。パークゴルフ場は国際パークゴルフ協会の公認コースとなっています。

There are three different types of golf courses ( a 9-hole Cayman golf course, IPGA-certified 27 park golf courses, and 16 ground golf courses) and a multi-purpose open space in the park, making it easy for the people of Yoshioka, both young and old, to enjoy sports.

◆リバートピア吉岡 　Rivertopia Yoshioka

吉岡温泉船尾の湯を利用した天然温泉施設です。温泉は地下１，３００mから湧き出ています。高温のアルカリ泉は慢性皮膚病や慢性婦人病、神経痛などにも効果があります。赤城山を望む露天風呂は雄大な眺望が楽しめ、人気があります。湯上がりにはリラクゼーションルームでマッサージなどもご利用いただけます。

This is a natural hot spring using the Yoshioka Onsen Funaonoyu. The hot spring wells up from 1,300 meters below ground. High-temperature alkaline spring is potent against chronic skin and gynecological diseases as well as neuralgia. The open-air spa is very popular as the Mt. Akagi is closing in on you while you are in the bathtub. Massage is also available in the relaxation room.

　町の象徴でもある船尾滝は、県内随一の高さから流れ落ち、その美しさは雄大そのもの。周囲の景色と調和して、四季折々の自然が楽しめます。周辺は「吉岡船尾自然公園」として整備され、バーベキュー広場などもあります。

The Funaodaki Waterfall is the tallest in Gunma and has been the symbol of Yoshioka Town, of which breathtaking beauty changes in each of the four seasons by perfectly fitting in the surroundings and creating different faces. The adjacent area has been kept up as Yoshioka Funao Natural Park, which has an open space for barbecuing.

◆船尾滝 　Funaodaki Waterfall

　町西端部に位置し、海抜８４０ｍから落差６０ｍを落下する姿は絶景です。町の名所であるとともに県下に誇る名爆です。かつては「神の宮居として神地と呼び、諸人入るべからず」とされ、いつの頃からか「不入の滝」から「船尾滝」と呼ばれるようになったと伝えられています。駐車場から徒歩で、片道約２０分の道のりで、滝の近くまで行くことができます。

Situated at 840 meters above sea level, water drops from 60 meters high. The spectacular view is by far the most beautiful scenic view not only in Yoshioka Town but from among the many in Gunma. In the olden days, the waterfall was called "Shinchi" meaning where the God resides" and therefore kept off limit from human being. The legend has it that the local people once called it “Waterfall of no entry(Funyuu)",but the name has evolved over time to "Waterfall of Funao(Funaodaki). A 20-minute walk (one way) from the nearest parking lot will get you to the waterfall.

◆船尾自然公園バーベキュー広場 　Funao Natural Park Barbecue Square

　船尾滝入口にある船尾自然公園バーベキュー広場は、自然が満喫できるバーベキュー場で、春から秋にかけて（４月１日～１１月３０日）利用できます。
使用時間は１０時から１７時までで、受付については土・日・祝日は現地にシルバー人材センターの方がおりますので、現地で申し込みをしてから利用してください。また平日は役場産業建設課にて受付しています。（事前予約はしておりません。）時期には、職場の仲間や家族連れで、賑わっています。

Open between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. and from April 1 to November 30. To barbecue in the square, you have to register beforehand. (No advance registration is accepted.) On weekdays, go to the Industry and Construction Section (Sangyo Kensetsu Ka) of Yoshioka Town Hall to register. On weekends, someone will be at the barbecue square to handle registration. The square has been the favorite place for get together for both working people and families in town.

　８月中旬から１０月上旬にかけて小倉地区にありますぶどう郷にてブドウ狩りが楽しめます。

From mid-August through early October, you can enjoy hand picking of grapes at a village in Ogura district.

◆小倉ぶどう郷　Ogura Grape Village

　町の特産品である小倉ぶどうは、甘くて美味しいと定評があり、巨峰・デラウェアをはじめ多くの品種が栽培されております。シーズン中には、観光客や多くの家族連れで賑わいます。
　開園期間は、園によって多少前後しますが、８月中旬から１０月中旬までの約２ヶ月間となっております。

Grapes from Ogura district taste excellent and are among the many local specialties Yoshioka offers. Sweet and juicy, Kyoho, Delaware, and other grapes grown on the farms in Ogura district are quite appealing to many tourists and local families during peak season, which generally starts in mid-August and ends in mid-October.

　特産品として、小倉地区の乾燥いもがあります。ここ数年、徐々に知名度があがっております。
　１月には漆原地区にある長松寺で矢落観世音と呼ばれる縁日が開かれます。

The most famous local specialty in winter is dried sweet potato, which is gaining popularity in the last few years. In January, festival of Yaochi Kannon Bodhisattva is held in January at the Choshoji Temple in Urushibara district.

◆乾燥いも　 Dried sweet potato

　丸干ししている乾燥いもで、全国的にも珍しく、切り干しの乾燥いもとは違った食感と風味が楽しめます。

Sliced and dried sweet potatoes are well known, but ones produced in Yoshioka are very unique as they are cooked and dried whole. Enjoy the different flavor and texture from sliced ones.

◆矢落観世音 　Yaochi Kannon Bodhisattva

　吉岡町にある長松寺（ちょうしょうじ）は、威徳山常楽院長松寺といい、比叡山延暦寺の末寺です。その西隣に祀られている矢落観世音は、「ざる観音」と呼ばれ親しまれています。昔の伝説によると、桑畑で桑を摘んでいる人のざるの中に、飛来した観音様が納まったことが由来となっています。
　境内で毎年１月１４日に縁日が開かれます。町の内外から参拝客が絶えないほどの賑わいを見せます。伝承により、境内にザルや籠などの竹細工を商う露店が並び、多数の参詣人で賑わいます。

Choushoji Temple in Yoshioka Town is officially called Itokuzan Jyourakuinn Choushoji and is a Buddhist temple that belongs to the Head Temple, Hieizan Enryakuji Temple in Nara. Yaochi Kannon Bodhisattva is enshrined to the west of Chochoji Temple. It's fondly referred to as "Zaru Kannon" or bamboo basket Bodhisattva. The nickname comes from an old folk tale. Once upon a time, when a local farmer was picking mulberry leaves into a bamboo basket to feed his silkworms, a bodhisattva appeared out of thin air and found its way into his basket (to be enshrined there).
A fair is held in the temple courtyard on January 14 every year. The temple is visited uninterruptedly by worshipers, including many from out of town, and throughout the day. Stemming from the bamboo basket legend, many of the stall keepers sell bamboo work such as baskets and sieves.

◆道の駅よしおか温泉
　Michino-eki Yoshioka Onsen (The Road Station Yoshioka Hot Spring)

　道の駅よしおか温泉は、近年での上毛大橋の開通、前橋渋川バイパスをはじめとする幹線道路網の整備や駒寄スマートインターチェンジの設置などにより、交通のアクセス性が大変良いところです。
　温泉・物産館・クラブハウスの３つの建物から成り立っています。県内の道の駅において温泉施設があるものは、大変珍しいと言えます。ドライバーの休憩としての利用はもちろん、パークゴルフ場を備えた緑地運動公園で汗を流した後、足湯や温泉で身体や心をリフレッシュし、また物産館にて地域の農産物に親しんでもらう、レジャーとしての機能も持ち合わせています。観光案内所もありますのでご利用ください。

The recent improvements in major highway network system in Gunma by the opening of Maebashi-Shibukawa bypass road, Komayose ETC Exit, and the Jomo Ohashi Bridge have made Michino-eki Yoshioka Onsen (the Road Station Yoshioka Hot Spring) readily accessible by all means of transportation.
It comprises of onsen facility building, local produce marketplace building, and the clubhouse. Of all the road stations in Gunma, this one is unique for having onsen facilities on its premises. Relaxing in the onsen is truly appealing to those who had a long drive or played park golf in the adjacent greenbelt sports park. Refreshed both body and mind, you can enjoy shopping local fresh produce at the marketplace and spend the whole day at Michino-eki Yoshioka Onsen. If you want to make a little side trip, there is tourist information center.
